SUPER! BitCon was borne out of a need for bigger, better gaming events in the state of Oklahoma. It began as a grassroots movement to try something new and has grown into the largest gaming bash in our state. As a team, we have a commitment to fostering diversity, acceptance, and friendship in all we do. With that mission in mind, we have made sure to provide equal protection and treatment for all of those who attend our expo.
We’re all gamers — and we’re all people. Our Code of Ethics, outlined below, is our promise to make S!BC a welcoming home for all during the last weekend in March.
SUPER! BitCon Code of Ethics
SUPER! BitCon is dedicated to providing an ethical, comfortable, harassment-free convention experience for EVERYONE, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of convention participants in any form. Convention participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the convention without a refund at the discretion of the convention organizers. Our Code of Ethics can be found below.
Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, and/or religion, as well as sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
Exhibitors in the expo hall, sponsor or vendor booths, or similar activities are also subject to the Code of Ethics. In particular, exhibitors should not use inappropriately sexualized images, activities, or other material. Booth staff (including volunteers) should not use inappropriately sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a sexualized environment. Questions regarding the appropriateness of costumes and/or displays can be addressed to event staff, however the general rule of thumb is: if it would constitute an indecent exposure charge, do not wear it or display it at SUPER! BitCon.
Alcohol & Drugs
At its heart, SUPER! BitCon is a child-friendly event. However, low-point beer sales will be available from concessions. Do not bring outside alcohol into the event space. Convention attendees are encouraged to consume alcohol only in responsible moderation the day of the event, while attending the event. Be aware that those under the age of 21 will be present at SUPER! BitCon, so please obey all local laws with regard to the presence of alcohol in the company of minors. There will be a zero-tolerance, no refund expulsion of any event attendee caught violating said laws. Charges may also be filed against said attendees at the discretion of SUPER! BitCon staff.
SUPER! BitCon strictly prohibits the use, making, sale, purchase, transfer, distribution, consumption, or possession of drugs on event property. To this end, SUPER! BitCon security reserves the right to conduct searches for drugs or outside alcohol, including, but not limited to, searches of lockers, filing cabinets, desks, packages, bags, etc. which are on event property or in an event facility. Any drugs or outside alcohol found as a result of such a search will be confiscated by local authorities and the occupant or user of the object searched will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including the filing of criminal charges.
Purchase or receipt of an event ticket, hand stamp, or badge signifies your agreement with this policy. If a participant engages in any behavior contrary to this Code of Ethics, the convention organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the convention with no refund. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of convention staff immediately. Convention staff will be identified by lime green event t-shirts labeled “VOLUNTEER” on the reverse as well as special badges. Additionally, purchase of admission grants SUPER! BitCon the right to take photographs of you and your family in connection with the above-identified event. You authorize SUPER! BitCon, its assigns and transferees to copyright, use and publish the same in print and/or electronically. You agree that SUPER! BitCon may use such photographs of you with or without your name and for any lawful purpose, including for example such purposes as publicity, illustration, advertising, and Web content.
Convention staff will be happy to help participants contact venue security or local law enforcement, provide safety escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the convention. We value your attendance.
